The ‘Music Fair’ akustika Nuremberg takes place annually as a central platform for acoustic music and offers a wide range of products and services relating to instrument-making and music-making.

On display are string, plucked, brass and woodwind instruments, as well as keyboard instruments; the range has now been expanded to include percussion and the accordion. The range is complemented by accessories, materials, sheet music and services. Music schools, universities and associations are on hand to offer advice.

Instruments can be tried out on site, with advice provided directly by the instrument makers. As such, akustika offers a range of products and services for musicians that is unique in Germany. The fair is aimed at professional musicians (including orchestral musicians, soloists and studio musicians), music teachers, music students, specialist instrument retailers, instrument makers, and amateur and hobby musicians.

A free concert programme across several stages, as well as workshops, seminars and composer profiles, round off the programme.

akustika is Europe’s only industry platform of this scope and attracts musicians of all levels – from music students and amateur ensembles to professionals – as well as instrument makers and retailers.

Exhibitor

Over 250 exhibitors from 24 countries with over 250 brands will present the diversity of handcrafted instrument making. The trade fair is growing and, for the first time, will also occupy Hall 7A. The offerings at akustika include handcrafted acoustic instruments such as brass and woodwind instruments, plucked and bowed string instruments, pianos, grand pianos and organs, as well as accordions, percussion, sheet music, and accessories. Major brands in the instrument sector and renowned instrument makers from around the world will be represented.

The concert highlights

Six stages will host a diverse program of free concerts and lectures. In addition to eight big bands, performers include the Veitshöchheim Army Music Corps, the Association of Protestant Brass Choirs of Bavaria, the North Bavarian Brass Band, and the Nuremberg Accordion Orchestra – one of Europe's leading ensembles. As the accordion is the "Instrument of the Year 2026," it will be a particular focus. Other highlights include a Stradivarius presentation with Yvonne Smeulers, "Magical Duduk" with Gagik Hakobyan, and a live broadcast from BR-Heimat featuring various brass bands on Saturday.

International Composers' Meeting Place

A particular highlight is the composers' meeting, organized by the North Bavarian Music Association (NBMB) in cooperation with Alexandra Link from the brass band blog. This part of the program brings musicians together with renowned composers from the scene, such as Johan de Meij, Jacob de Haan, Peter Kleine Schaars, José Alberto Pina, Hubert Hoche, Dominik Wagner, Mathias Wehr, Bart Picqueur, Gauthier Dupertuis, Armin Kofler, Karl-Heinz Möseneder, and Florian Möseneder. These artists are available for discussions, composer profiles, and workshops, offering a unique insight into their work.

Piano Salon - Level 2

At the Piano Salon of the German Association of Piano Makers (BDK), you can experience the flagship models of renowned manufacturers up close and be captivated by their sound, design, and craftsmanship. New this year, the Piano Salon now also features upright pianos, complementing its established selection of concert grand pianos . During the "Piano Tasting," pianists will showcase the diverse sounds of the instruments. You, too, can try out the 12 concert grand pianos and 7 upright pianos for yourself!

Current industry topics on the nmz soloists' stage

On the nmz Soloists Stage (Hall 7A, Stand C26), nmz – neue musikzeitung (new music magazine) invites you to panel discussions on current industry topics: Friday focuses on musical education with Prof. Jürgen Oberschmidt, followed by Prof. Rainer Kotzian and Prof. Christian Höppner on the topic "Who still wants to become a music school teacher?". On Saturday, the German Music Council's Music Information Center presents new data on musical instrument making. On Sunday, Daniela Holweg and Jan Hembacher discuss inclusion, and the topics also include "Making music and buying instruments in the age of the internet and AI" as well as business succession for instrument makers and music stores.

#MIBKON Industry Congress for the European Musical Instrument Industry

As part of a strategic partnership, SOMM – Society Of Music Merchants e. V. – is contributing three formats to akustika that promote exchange between industry and specialist retailers. The industry congress #MIBKON connects manufacturers, retailers, and experts on topics such as market development, retail strategies, regulation, and future prospects. The akustika Business Lounge serves as a meeting place for discussions, meetings, and the initiation of collaborations. The " Musical Classroom " focuses on musical education and demonstrates in practical workshops how instrumental instruction and the development of young talent can be strengthened – a topic with long-term relevance for specialist retailers.
