akustika Nuremberg continues to grow and is now a member of the German Music Council

The international Music Trade Fair akustika Nuremberg will take place for the fourth time at the Messe Nürnberg from 24 to 26 April. In addition to its previous exhibition space, the fair will now occupy an additional exhibition hall for the first time: “A house full of music” will extend over four levels in the NCC Ost and Hall 7A of the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. Furthermore, akustika has been accepted into the German Music Council, thus recognising its importance for the industry.

Nuremberg – akustika Nuremberg is the annual meeting place for musicians and the only trade fair for musical instruments of this calibre in Europe. The increasing demand from exhibitors has prompted the organisers to expand the exhibition space: from 2026, akustika Nuremberg will occupy not only the four floors in the NCC East of the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre, but also an exhibition hall (Hall 7A) for the first time.

akustika focuses on handcrafted instrument making and covers various instrument groups: string and plucked instruments, keyboard instruments, brass and woodwind instruments, flutes, orchestral percussion and accordions. Accessories and sheet music are also available. Musicians have the opportunity to meet instrument makers in person at akustika and try out instruments live. The high-calibre concert programme and numerous workshops and live performances round off the offering. The annual conference of the Association of German Piano Makers takes place parallel to the trade fair. German instrument makers offer factory tours for international guests.

Highly regarded: akustika is a member of the German Music Council

The Presidium of the German Music Council has decided to accept akustika as a new member.

Antje Valentin, Secretary General of the German Music Council, explains: "Akustika Nuremberg has established itself as a major new player in a very short time, not only through its “core business” as a music fair, but also through an ambitious, diverse supporting programme of concerts, workshops, master classes and factory tours. In order to be future-proof, instrument manufacturing and distribution, as a central area of the music industry, must be networked and innovative. The German Music Council, together with its members from the music industry, is committed to this. We warmly welcome akustika into our ranks and look forward to working together!"

The managing directors of trade fair organiser AFAG, Henning and Thilo Könicke, emphasise: "We are delighted to have been accepted into the German Music Council and would like to express our sincere thanks for the trust placed in us. Membership is not only a great honour for us, but also a valuable opportunity to network even more closely with the industry. We would like to work together to align akustika as an industry platform with the interests of musicians and instrument makers. Intensive exchange and a strong network are essential for this."

Maik Heißer, project manager at akustika, adds: "The inclusion of akustika in the German Music Council is fantastic for us and an important step towards further developing akustika in line with the industry's needs. Our goal is to create a platform where instrument makers and musicians can meet in person and drive innovation together. Promoting young talent is an important part of this. We are delighted to be part of this network and want to contribute our expertise and strengths to help shape the future of music."
