Successful conclusion of akustika 2025: A highlight of the music and world of instrument making
akustika 2025 in Nuremberg was a complete success and once again set new standards for the music and instrument making industry. Over three days, 10,100 trade visitors and music enthusiasts visited the NCC Ost at Messe Nürnberg and experienced an impressive exhibition, numerous concerts and exciting workshops.
Nuremberg – With akustika 2025, the trade fair has once again established itself as the central platform for the music and instrument making industry. The success of the event emphasises the importance of this trade fair as a meeting place for professionals, musicians and all those who are passionate about music and the art of instrument making.
With more than 230 exhibitors from 18 countries presenting a wide range of string, brass and woodwind instruments as well as key-board instruments, accessories and materials, akustika 2025 was an international meeting place for music professionals and enthusiasts. Only 40% of the visitors came from northern Bavaria; the majority of visitors travelled to Nuremberg from all over Germany and 38 other countries.
The trade fair offered a valuable platform for dialogue between manufacturers, representatives of music schools, professional and amateur musicians. Workshops with internationally renowned musicians offered trade visitors, students and professional musicians the opportunity to exchange ideas in a personal setting. Half of the visitors stated that they were amateur musicians. The next largest groups of visitors were professional musicians, music teachers and lecturers as well as dealers. Around 60% of visitors were attending akustika for the first time.
Focus remains on handcrafted instrument making
The akustika 2025 once again placed a strong focus on handcrafted instruments. The customised and traditionally crafted instruments were particularly popular. More than half of the visitors made a purchase directly at the trade fair.
In addition to classical instruments, there were also innovative tech-nologies and creative solutions for musicians and instrument makers to discover. At the top of the visitor interest were sheet music, woodwind instruments and keyboard instruments.
Christoph Endres, Federal Guild Master in the Federal Guild Association for the Musical Instrument Trade, is impressed: “The crafts-manship aspect of akustika is unique. We made many new contacts and were able to share our expertise with a broad target group. The response was overwhelming and the school workshops on the “Tag des Handwerks” (Day of Crafts) also met with great interest. Particularly pleasing was the further strengthening of co-operation with music and instrument making institutions, which provides important impetus for the next generation.“
The managing directors of trade fair organisers AFAG, Henning und Thilo Könicke, also drew an extremely positive conclusion: “akustika 2025 was another highlight in its still young trade fair history. There were numerous emotional moments, be it at the high-calibre concerts or the intensive expert discussions between exhibitors and visitors. We are proud to offer the music and instrument making world such a unique space and will continue to work with our partners on the further development of this important industry gathering in the future.”
Outlook for the future
Maik Heißer, akustika project manager, looks back on the trade fair with satisfaction: “The positive feedback from participants shows that we are on the right track. I would like to thank all exhibitors and partners for their commitment and look forward to the next edition, for which there are already many ideas and wishes.”
Visitors to akustika missed a greater presence of industry associations and organisations from the music industry. Visitors would also like to see more percussion, drums and accordions. The organisers are already looking forward to the next edition of akustika, which will take place from 24 to 26 April 2026, with exciting innovations and highlights already being planned for a further expansion of the exhibition space.
